Eco Driven
At the recent Green Earth Expo I was asked what makes
eventege®“green” and why it is different from other
display systems. I would like to share some of the thinking that
has gone into the design of our product …
eventege®
1st - It is important to be sure that you are comparing the same package. Does each package include graphics, counters, cases etc? If that is the case, the real comparison can begin. For most people the difference will be the details. For example, are there shelves that are included? Are those shelves internal shelves that are not visible in the rendering/picture? If they are included, how thick is the material and what is it made of? Are there tabs, clickers, snaps or connectors that can be easily broken? What kind of casing is used? What is the wall thickness? How are the wheels attached? Do they protrude? Will they be knocked off in shipping? What material is the case made of? How many cases are required for shipping? What is the panel material composition? Is it recycled, is it recyclable? If there are tubes, what is the wall thickness? What is the ratio between the wall thickness and the panel thickness? …. Will the tube snap if bent? What size and strength are the magnets? What is the finish on the magnets? Where are the magnets located? It is in these often “invisible” details that quality and cost is driven in or out of the product.
eventege® as a quality objective
It is my choice to drive quality into every aspect of our product. This commitment has driven every decision we, as a team have made as it relates to our products. For example, our counters are made of recycled sunflower kernels, straw or wheat. This is a more expensive but completely renewable resource. We chose ½ ” thick material instead of ¾ ” for maximum strength and minimum weight. For our frames, we use a thicker wall thickness of aluminum to ensure long-term usability. A thicker wall ratio to the outside diameter minimizes tube failure. To complement this wall ratio, we selected a higher grade of aluminum material to be less brittle.
eventege® as a green choice
We chose to work with a factory that begins all manufacturing
with at minimum of 50% recycled material of proven origin to maintain
the correct chemical mixture. We changed from anodizing to electro-static
painting for a better appearance and a less toxic process.
We hand inspect each tube after it is cut at the highest possible
tolerance to reduce waste, insure the tightest fit to reduce parts
and pieces. All our connectors are steel or aluminum. We use recycled
plastic for our graphic panels. We offer a recycling plan for outdated
panels as well as a buy back plan for frames no longer needed. We
chose to manufacture in the U.S. We designed the product so
we could hire the handicapped and physically challenged for sub
assembly. We pay a living wage. The less expensive units require
replacement in a much shorter time - we know - we sold them! This
is why I spent the time to create a better-designed, engineered
and manufactured product. The trade off is we are working to be
a truly green product. Not green washed. We offer a product that
is 50% lighter, 75% faster to set up, saving time, energy and money.
eventege® as our personal commitment to
service
Savings in freight, drayage, labor and refurbishment
will more than pay for the unit within 3-4 uses compared to a typical
pop-up or modular booth. eventege® actually costs less than
the alternatives. But, at the end of the day ... my commitment is
to deliver a well thought-out, well engineered, energy efficient
product that was designed to be green, easy to use and wonderful
to see!
